Windsurf
Windsurf courses at PKS
A water sport that needs no introduction.
Perfect for kids too, learning to windsurf is like learning the piano if you want to play music. It teaches you all the basics and, once you’re hooked, it’s addictive!
Whether you’re starting from scratch or want to improve your level, our certified instructors will guide you step by step, safely and with plenty of fun, offering you their passion, the best RRD equipment and services like the rescue boat and BBTalkin radios that really make the difference.

Equipment included
We give you everything you need to go out on the water: board, sail, mast, boom, harness, wetsuit, vest… You bring the desire to ride and learn, we’ll take care of the rest.

Rescue boat
Having a boat during your lesson is a whole different story. Whatever happens, we’re right there with you. And if you drift downwind, we come and pick you up.
Handy, right?

BBTALKIN RADIOS
So you’re always in touch with your instructor during the lesson: you’re followed closely and never miss a single tip.
BEGINNER COURSE
The most complete course: for every hour of practice on the water you also get an hour of theory on land.
First we explain everything you need to know to ride in complete safety, and you practise on the simulator to make the movements automatic. While you’re on the water we film you, and we analyse the videos together once back on the beach. That way you can see your mistakes and get corrected by your instructor. Combined with theory and practice on the water, this helps maximise your learning curve. And yes, the sooner you learn, the sooner you’re ready to fly!
ADVANCED COURSE
Perfect if you want to learn to plane or improve your manoeuvres.
The advanced course is designed to raise your level, with dedicated lessons in which the instructor follows you and films your mistakes and progress, which you then analyse together on the beach. That way your learning curve shoots up. And so do you!
GROUP COURSE
The most complete course: for every hour of practice on the water you also get an hour of theory on land.

What will you learn in the PKS Maremma windsurf courses?
- To sail, gybe, tack and get back to your starting point
- To rig the equipment
- To carry the equipment into the water
- To handle your first sessions in complete safety
- To tackle the more complex windsurf manoeuvres that let you raise your level and explore new horizons
- To “reset” your weight and balance on the new board when it comes to windfoiling
- To broaden your experience, so you can be completely independent even at a real pro’s spots.
Why choose a windsurf course at PKS?
- Because our instructors are experienced and IKO certified (International Kiteboarding Organization) and FIV (Italian Sailing Federation)
- Because the course follows the federation’s teaching methods
- Because the equipment is always latest-generation and checked, for maximum performance and maximum safety
- Because the PKS spot in Castiglione della Pescaia is one of the best in Tuscany and in Italy for this sport
- Because at PKS you also have all the beach comforts: sunbed, umbrella, shower and more
- Because we really care about the success of your experience
Six things to know before starting your private wing foil course at PKS Maremma:
- If you launch from a beach during the bathing season, always check there’s a launch channel to get in and out of the water. It’s the only facility that lets you head out and come back to shore on your own, without having to push your board for 200 metres before you can pull up the sail.
- Windsurfing today is very easy to learn. There are boards of all sizes to suit every student, and equipment for every age, including small children, with sails as small as 0.8 square metres, an eighth of an adult sail
- Windsurfing is a discipline that always lets you keep progressing. But to get started, four concepts are enough: bow, stern, upwind and downwind. If you already know them, half the theory is done.
- Windsurf foiling is easy to learn if you can already plane on a windsurf, but the equipment needs to be handled carefully to avoid problems. A helmet and impact vest will give you extra safety.
- Once planing, the board reacts more to the rider’s weight than to the position of the sail, which is why you steer with your feet.
- Always check the condition of your equipment, especially if you haven’t used it for a while. Before putting it away, always rinse everything with plenty of fresh water. And if you need it, we have boards, sails, harnesses and even wetsuits for you.
